Our Story

After a typical pregnancy and delivery, we found out our son, Lucas John (LJ), had a rare genetic condition. So rare, that only 500 people are living with it, worldwide. Nonketotic hyperglycinemia (NKH), is a debilitating condition, causing seizures, severe developmental delays, and in many instances, loss of life.

NKH is considered an "orphaned disease", this means any and all research on the condition is funded solely by the parents and families affected by it. In Lucas' three years of life, we've made it our goal to spread awareness about NKH and of course, raise money for the cure.

LJ Avenue is our latest venture in fundraising. We will be donating the proceeds from these incredible bags to the Lucas John Foundation. All money donated from LJ Avenue, wilI directly benefit NKH research.

If you would like to learn more about NKH, Lucas' story, and how you can help fund the cure for this terrible diagnosis, follow the links below.

Why a Gazelle?

The gazelle has the ability to escape its predator by sheer speed and determination with a fighting spirit to never give up! This is the same spirit we believe we as parents have when advocating for our rare children. This is also a great symbol for Lucas especially. His life has been doubted by more doctors than we can count at this point, but he never gives up! Lucas keeps fighting to free himself from the hand of the hunter, like the gazelle.
